2011 club review

Posted by Comments Off on 2011 club review

2011 was another good year for the club.

• We took a total of 98 medals including 36 golds, 23 silver and 39 bronze as well as 4 best in category trophies and the best competitor trophy at the junior competition. We came first in the Junior Championships and second in both the team and the Junior/Senior Championships losing out in November again by only two golds to Mr Stronach’s Reflex TKD club.

• We held 3 gradings during the year that were well attended by students that had reached the required standard. 131 students have been promoted including 13 plus passes and one ‘A’ pass.

• Little dragon classes are running very strongly in both Ryton and Rowlands Gill and also the new class started in West Denton earlier in the year. Throughout the year we held 6 Little Dragon gradings and we had 125 new belts given out to Dragons who had reached their next level.

• We also had 9 Little Dragons who moved into juniors after reaching the correct level and age.

• Squad training has been held building up to the three competitions which proved very successful.

• We completed two excellent demonstrations at the Active 500 exhibition and at the Newcastle Mela which proved very popular and feedback was excellent.

• We also hosted another sparring seminar in which we invited six times World Champion Miss Julia Cross, 5th degree to take the club through some great sparring drills. The seminar was a great success and many students have been inspired by a true champion and inspirational instructor.

• In August we held our first Club Summer camp in Newquay, Cornwall that was a great success. Students and parents from the club got to take part in extra training and activities in a completely new environment and also got to make friends with others from Mr Grant Churchward’s club.

Christmas party seemed to be a big success at the Namco bowling centre we had almost 100 people in attendance.
